SECRETARY GENERAL

John Flood

After qualifying as a solicitor in 1972, John joined McNamara Ryan in 1974. In 1986 he became senior partner and in 1996 McNamara Ryan formed an association with Beauvoisin & Burgess, following which John has attended every Lexlink Conference since 1997. At the time of Brian Burgess’s untimely death in 2007, McNamara Ryan and Beauvoisin & Burgess had been on the verge of merging. John and Tony Beauvoisin merged the two firms in 2010, before hosting the Lexlink Conference at the RAC Country Club in Epsom in 2011 and ultimately merging with Meadows Fraser in 2012 to form Meadows Ryan, which then took on the mantle of the English Lexlink member.

John and Tony retired from practice in 2013 and John was then appointed as the Honorary Treasurer of Lexlink, a post that enabled him to pursue his deep interest in maintaining his late brother-in-law, Brian Burgess’s legacy as one of the founders of Lexlink. In 2015 John succeeded Michael Orbell as the third Secretary General of Lexlink.

John Flood

John and his wife, Celia, are now busy as the grandparents of four grandsons (the youngest two cousins by chance both born on Christmas Day 2015). Since his retirement John has had a little more time to pursue his many other interests, including his involvement with the annual children’s pilgrimage to Lourdes with HCPT. Following 50 years with this deserving charity, and his part in raising £500,000, funding over 1000 children to go to Lourdes, John was awarded the KSG in 2016.
