“I now truly feel I am becoming a lawyer”, says law student Jeremías Pérez Paz

Jeremías Pérez Paz, a law student at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) who works at WSC Legal, is reflecting on how practical experience is shaping his path into the legal profession.
Having moved to Buenos Aires from another province to study, Jeremías found that building a life far from home brought its own challenges.
“As an out-of-province student, it was not always easy to study far from family and home, despite my love for this beautiful city,” Jeremías says. “Fortunately, I met so many great people who made my time at university much easier. Something similar happened at work.”
At first, Jeremías concentrated solely on his studies. But he soon recognised that even the strongest academic grounding needs to be matched by experience in practice.
“It is well known that, at some point, it is essential to gain practical experience to become a well-rounded lawyer, even when studying at a law school as highly regarded as UBA,” he says. “That is especially true of a law degree, where lessons are largely theoretical compared with subjects such as medicine or architecture.”
Joining WSC Legal has given him that opportunity.
“I feel grateful not only to be working at WSC Legal, but to be learning from such great professionals and even better people,” Jeremías says.
“My daily work allows me to put into practice the concepts I learn in law school, which helps me to understand and internalise what I am studying.
“It has also shown me just how important it is to have good people around you.”
Combining his studies with work at the firm has given Jeremías a clearer view of the profession and growing confidence in his place within it.
“I now truly feel I am becoming a lawyer.”
