Lexlink is a global network of law firms focusing on corporate and business law, international transactions, commercial litigation, arbitration, tax, and private client matters. Each member of Lexlink is admitted to practice law in the jurisdiction in which it is located and services its own clients, and clients referred by other Lexlink members, using English as the preferred language.
Leklink was the brainchild of Brian Burgess, a London lawyer. Brian found himself working on a regular basis with lawyers Owen Ness, in Scotland, Bertil Edqvist in Sweden, and Tony Sheil in Ireland, and in 1990 he convinced them to found a formal association. This four-member group quickly grew by adding firms in other countries, based on the expertise of those firms and the professional and personal synergy between the lead lawyers in each firm. Lexlink today has more than 20 members and a global reach.
The Members meet at least once a year at an Annual General Meeting, and at other times in the year, for specific purposes.
The ethos of Lexlink is that the members of the Lexlink network are united by the same business philosophy, which emphasises the quality of legal services available for clients. Regular contact among the members of Lexlink is intended to create confidence in one another, leading to good cooperation and results.
Lexlink has one member law firm per country.
The main advantages of working with members of Lexlink are short response times, professional expertise, and a deep understanding of cultural differences. Because the members get to know each other, but professionally and socially, they are better able to understand each other and to develop trust, which leads to better and more efficient advice for their clients.
Cases are handled either directly by the firm advising the client or by the introducing firm being the intermediary with the Lexlink member that will ultimately advise the client.
Lexlink has a strict policy that no referral fees are allowed. This policy eliminates any source of conflict of interest and disagreements and ensures that the members of Lexlink act fully in the best interests of their clients.
Lexlink is an association of firms formed under the laws of Liechtenstein. It is governed by a simple constitution, whose purpose is to lay out the main terms and practices for the members.
